Our annual JH Wordsmith (Creative Writing) competition is back! Compete against other students in your grade to earn recognition and prizes!
Deadline: Friday, April 17th, 2020, 3:00 PM
Submit entries to your English Teacher or Ms. White in 3FLN.
Students may enter no more than ONE (1) piece of writing in each category – a maximum of TWO (2) in total:
Category 1: Prose – includes short stories and plays
Category 2: Verse – includes poetry and spoken word/rap
o Entries must be typed in 12pt Times New Roman font
o Each Prose and/or Verse entry must not exceed word limit:
Grade 8 & 9: 500 words maximum per entry
Grade 10-12: 1,000 words maximum per entry
o Must include cover page (attached here WordSmith Cover Page (1) (1) or available from your English teacher.) Do not put your name on your entry, only on the cover page.

Just a reminder that all missing assignments for semester one must be submitted by Friday, January 17th. After this date, students with outstanding assignments must attend on course completion days (January 23rd and 24th).

The English 12 provincial exam will take place on Monday, June 24th, from 8:30-11:30am.
Please arrive at 8am, with photo ID, for registration.
All missing assignments must be submitted to Ms. Keller by the end of the day on Friday, June 21st. Students who still need to catch up at that point must come to school during the course completion days. If this is you, please come to 1FLN at 9am on Tuesday, June 25th.

- Entries will be judged blindly, so please do not put your name directly on your work. See your English teacher (or any English teacher) for a cover page.

By now you should know whether you are missing any assignments. All missing/late work must be submitted by Friday, January 18th. If you need extra help, please come see me after school (any day except Wednesday).
